Nanny State of the Week: Chicago aims to toughen ineffective plastic bag ban

Six months after the Chicago plastic bag ban went into effect, it is clear that it has been a failure for the city. But rather than admitting defeat and acknowledging that bag bans and taxes just don't work, Chicago activists are calling for stricter restrictions on the bags. 

As Illinois Watchdog believes, “That’s life in the Nanny State: If a ban doesn’t work, it just means the government hasn’t been heavy-handed enough to force people to obey.”
